Working with leather can be fun and creative with endless project possibilities. Tooling (or carving) is a leatherworking skill that allows you to decorate and customize your leather projects.
Although there are many different styles and directions you can go with tooling, there are basic tools and fundamentals that are common among them all.
This is a hands-on tooling class where you will begin to learn the fundamentals of basic tools, including the swivel knife, bevels, and shaders. Whether you have some tooling experience already or you have never touched a tool, this class is for you. Fundamentals are important at any stage of the game, and the class format is ideal for different skill levels with lots of one-on-one instruction. Please bring any tools you already have. If you are just starting and do not have any, there will be tools provided for you to use during class.
NOTE: If you truly want to fast track your learning and make big improvements in your tooling, register for all three classes being offered this week. These classes are ordered in a specific way so that each one will build more skills on top of the previous. If you want to get serious about tooling, then you will no doubt benefit from the full immersion experience of taking all three classes in a row.
