Using a swivel knife to create decorative cuts can add flow and depth to your work. It can make a flat piece of leather come to life and take on another dimension. Decorative cuts can become a signature, with leathercrafters developing their own style that is recognized by other toolers. This is possible because there is no one right way to do decorative cuts. However, there are some fundamentals that are common to make decorative cuts that are appealing to the eye.

Bring your swivel knife and get ready to take a deep dive into decorative cuts. Learn to be intentional with your knife, have a goal for your cuts, and build the skills necessary to achieve the professional look you are after in your tooling.
